Radiation Oncologists

Associate Professor Angela Hong MBBS, MMed, PhD, FRANZCR

Associate Professor Hong is a radiation oncologist at Royal Prince Alfred hospital. Dr Hong graduated from The University of Sydney in 1994. During 1996-1997, she performed laboratory research on radiosensitivity at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York and the University of Davis, California. This research culminated in Dr Hong being awarded the Master of Medicine degree from University of Sydney in 1998. In 2001 she was awarded the fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists and was the recipient of the Kaye Scott Prize.

Dr Hong's research interests continued at the Radiation Biology laboratory at the Royal Prince Alfred hospital, forming the basis of her PhD, which was awarded in 2004 by The University of Sydney. Her clinical interests include management of melanoma and skin malignancy, haematological malignancy, bone and soft tissue tumours, and radiosensitivity.

Dr Gerald Fogarty BSc, MBBS, FRANZCR

Dr Fogarty is a consultant radiation oncologist on staff at Mater and St Vincent’s Sydney Hospitals. He is the Director of the Mater Radiotherapy Centre and attends multidisciplinary clinics for cancers arising from skin, urological and breast tissues.

Gerald trained at Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute, Australia’s largest cancer centre. He has over 25 first author publications and is the principal investigator of an NHMRC International Phase III Trial in radiotherapy in melanoma. Gerald is a senior lecturer at both The University of Sydney and University of NSW.
