Consider leaving a gift in your will

Gifts in wills are a unique opportunity to do more for melanoma research and future generations than you ever imagined possible. Watch the video below to see our CEO talking about why.

Melanoma Institute Australia’s purpose is to prevent, treat and cure melanoma. If you share this vision, then please consider leaving a gift to the Institute in your will so that together, we can create a future without melanoma.

How to leave a gift in your will

It is important for everyone to have a valid will. First provide for your loved ones, and then consider whether you can also include a gift to Melanoma Institute Australia. This can be in the shape of:

  • Residue or part of the residue of your estate (what remains after specific gifts have been made).
  • Percentage of the residue or the estate.
  • A specific lump sum.
  • A specific asset such as property, shares, bonds.

The first two options are the most significant as they hold their value over time.

It’s a simple matter to give the below wording to your solicitor to include in your will. If you have an existing will, this can be added as a codicil:

“I give and bequeath to Melanoma Institute Australia ABN 35 123 32 1148 [the residue / a percentage / a specific sum / a piece of property / an item] of my estate to support melanoma research, free of all duties and taxes including, if any CGT, and the receipt of the Chief Executive Officer, Secretary or other authorised officer will be a complete and sufficient discharge for the executors.”
