About National Shade Day

National Shade Day is the national awareness and fundraising day for Melanoma Institute Australia. In 2012, National Shade Day will take place on Friday 7 September, kicking off a month-long awareness campaign. You can register or host a fundraising event on the day or any time in September. This year we hope to raise even more money to support our research into prevention, finding better treatments for melanoma patients, and ultimately a cure.

There are lots of ways to get involved and support. Together we can prevent melanoma and find a cure.

Fundraising Ideas

Here are some fun ideas to help boost your fundraising:

• Host a breakfast at your workplace. Ask everyone to wear a hat and make a donation
• Hold a trivia night at your local pub or school. Be sure to include questions that increase participants awareness of sun-safe behavior.
• Gather your friends together and have a picnic in your local park. Make sure you stay out of the sun in the middle of the day – sit under a shady tree and wear a big hat
