Vitamin D following primary treatment of melanoma at high risk of recurrence (MelD)

Title: Vitamin D following primary treatment of melanoma at high risk of recurrence.  A blinded pilot placebo controlled randomised phase II trial.

Stage of disease: IIb, IIc, IIIa(N1a), IIIb(N1a, N2a)

Intent of treatment: Prevention of recurrence

Lay Summary: Pilot study of 75 patients to assess the feasibility, safety and toxicity of oral vitamin D over a period of 2 years. Patients will be randomised to either receive active treatment or a placebo.

Target population is aged between18 – 79 years who have completed surgical treatment for their cutaneous malignant melanoma within 90 days and are considered to be at high risk for recurrence.
