MIA student honoured with NSW National Council of Women Australia Day Award

MIA student honoured with NSW National Council of Women Australia Day Award

10 February 2017

Congratulations to PhD Student, Tuba Nur Gide who was awarded a NSW National Council of Women Australia Day Award for her PhD research work.

The ceremony was held at the NSW Parliament House on the 27th of January. Recipients and guests were invited for lunch and received the awards from NCW NSW Patron, Mrs Linda Hurley.

Under the supervision of Professor Georgina Long, Tuba’s research is focused on the role of immunotherapies in melanoma. While some patients exhibit a complete response to immunotherapy, others show little to no benefit and the mechanisms behind this are not yet well understood. Understanding these mechanisms will allow for the design of clinical trials of combinations of therapies that aim to convert the non-responders into responders, ultimately improving patient outcomes.
